Bell Peppers: These sweet gems are perfect for salads and can be harvested in various colors like green, red, yellow, and orange.
Jalapeños: A medium heat variety, often used in salsas, they can grow up to 3 inches long and are typically harvested when still green.
Habaneros: If you love intense spice, these fiery peppers can reach heat levels of over 100,000 Scoville units, making them ideal for hot sauces!
This year I am growing Bell Peppers, California Peppers, Thai Peppers, Ghost Peppers, Serano Peppers, Tabasco Peppers (My husband wants to make his own tabasco sauce) Orange Habenaro Peppers, and Jalepenos. I will periodically update the pictures on this page with their growth. I started all of them from seeds. The ghost Peppers you have to wear gloves to even plant the seeds!

Fill seed trays with potting soil.
Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep. The instructions say 1/4 in but I just make a small poke with my pinkie finger put in the seed and cover it. this allows it to germinate faster and gives more room for root growth initially.
Water gently and cover with plastic to maintain humidity.
Aim for a warm environment, keeping temperatures between 70-85°F. Seeds typically sprout within 2-3 weeks.
Mine sprout quicker within the first week using my grow lights on for 24 hours for first 3-4 days then back off to 12 hours a day.
Step 4: Provide Adequate Light
Once your seeds have sprouted, they need plenty of light to grow strong and healthy.
Place them near a sunny window or under grow lights.
Ensure they receive 12-16 hours of light each day.
Good lighting is crucial for sturdy seedlings healthy enough to be transplanted later!

After the frost has passed and your seedlings are about 6 inches tall, it's time to transplant them outdoors.
Find a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
Space your plants 18-24 inches apart to promote airflow.
Dig holes, transplant seedlings carefully, covering their roots adequately.
Ensure that your pepper plants are thoroughly watered before and after transplanting to ease their transition.
Step 6: Water Consistently
Watering is key to your pepper plants' health.
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Water deeply once a week or more frequently during hot, dry spells.
Inconsistent watering can lead to problems like blossom end rot or stunted growth.

Use a balanced fertilizer every four to six weeks post-transplanting.
